Turner Classic Movies have created an insider's look at the Oscars called And the Oscar Goes To….
The documentary is about the Hollywood event that astonishes viewers each year. The film was co-directed by Robert Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman. Both are members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Epstein told the Associated Press, "I think the Academy has done a good job of keeping the yin and yang of the glam factor and the real, and the fact that both of those things really do co-exist as part of the Oscar experience. I think that that's part of the magic of it."
The documentary looks at the Academy Awards in years past. Over the years, Epstein and Friedman have been inspired by a number of Hollywood actors, including Jane Fonda. The movie features interviews from Fonda, Helen Mirren, Cher, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. The documentary will begin TCM’s 31 Days of Oscar, an Oscar celebration before the Academy Awards, according to Variety.
And the Oscar Goes To... debuts on Saturday at 8 p.m. on TCM.
