Predictions for the 86th Academy Awards heroes theme

This year’s Academy Awards is sure to be a fun and inspiring production filled with real life and fictional heroes.

Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will have a plethora of options to choose from when it comes to the theme of heroes. One could assume that the predictable classic heroes such as Batman and Superman can be expected to make an appearance during the ceremony. However, the show can take an emotional and touching route as well by honoring non-fiction heroes as well.

Of course, the traditional comic book heroes will most likely be making an appearance at the Oscars, since over the past couple of years, the media has been dominated by DC and Marvel characters. The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Man of Steel and Thor have all been huge blockbusters and that always makes an impact on the movie world.

One group of heroes the producers could take into consideration are female heroes and their impact on society as well. Who could forget the inspiring Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley in the Alien franchise or one of the other great queens of sci-fi heroism, Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia from the Star Wars series.

Real life heroes will also be incorporated into the honorary line up as well. This could range anywhere from the recently deceased human rights activist Nelson Mandela to the widely talked about Batkid who made headlines in late 2013 when his dream of becoming Batman turned into a reality.

Overall, the theme for this year’s Oscars is exciting to think about when considering all of the possibilities of what one considers to be a hero.
