Opera singer Renee Fleming confirmed to sing at Super Bowl

This year’s Super Bowl will take a more classical turn, as it was announced today that "The Star-Spangled Banner" will be sung by world renowned opera singer, Renee Fleming. Instead of the typical pop or country star, Fleming will grace the crowd with her incredible soprano vocals. stated that Fleming is the first opera singer to ever perform at the Super Bowl, which will take place this year at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Fleming has won several honorary awards including Grammy awards and a National Medal of Arts. She has performed at numerous distinguished events such as President Obama’s inaugural ceremony and has even sung at Buckingham palace for Queen Elizabeth II. As for sporting events, Fleming has performed at a World Series game in New York at the Yankee Stadium.
The Los Angeles Times has reported that it is unknown whether or not the soprano singer will be accompanied by musicians or not for the performance. However, Super Bowl fans will surely be in for a treat to be able to listen to such an amazing singer on such an important game day.
