New Zealand hit with 6.2 magnitude earthquake

Around 20 hours ago a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit New Zealand’s North Island and capital, Wellington.
BBC reported that Wellington Airport experienced a large brunt of the quake when an extremely large eagle statue that was suspended from the roof, put there to promote the Hobbit films, crashed to the floor of the airport. Luckily no one who was nearby was hurt in the incident, however investigators are now going to be determining how to make the sculpture more secure when it will get rehung after being thoroughly checked
New Zealand is no stranger when it comes to large magnitude earthquakes. Just last year, Wellington experienced a 6.9 magnitude quake that resulted in power outages and damages to parts of the roads.
Thankfully no casualties have been reported although many blackouts and power outages have been taking place throughout the North Island. CNN stated that atleast 5,600 people are going without power now.
