Singer Bobby Vee is putting aside his concern about Alzheimer’s disease. The singer, known for his work in the 1960s, will been focusing on his new album.
The Adobe Sessions is an album that will be released this Feburary. It features Vee’s music including favorite songs from Townes Van Zandt, Gordon Lightfoot, and Ricky Nelson. While at Rockhouse Productions, a recording studio he maintains with his sons, Vee told the Associated Press, "There's some songs I liked. I wanted to do some more music."
In recent years, Alzheimer's disease forced Vee to stop performing. According to Billboard, Vee has chosen to focus on his music, continuing forward despite the memory loss that comes with the condition. Throughout his career, Vee has recorded 38 Top 100 hits, with tunes like the "Run to Him" topping the charts.
The new album has been recorded with his family. The album’s release date is significant. It is the 55th anniversary of the plane crash that killed rock `n' roll legend, Buddy Holly. That day, Vee, then named Robert Velline, took Holly’s place in a historic performance that launched his career.
Vee’s The Adobe Sessions is set for release on Feb. 3.
