Is this sexy? It is not sexy when the Jackson 5 is singing it; that is for sure. John Mellencamp’s version of the song could be considered pretty risqué. While the song may mean to be that the father is dressed up as Santa and the mother is kissing him, it has a few other meanings.
Could mommy be cheating on daddy with another man dressed as Santa? Clearly the Santa kiss was supposed to be private, obviously, no kids should be seeing it. Plus, the kid seems pretty creepy for when he went “Down the stairs to have a peep.” For the innocent, “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” is okay. But those who know better may interpret it to be more.
The line: “I saw mommy tickle Santa Claus/Underneath his beard so white/Oh, what a laugh it would have been/If Daddy had only seen” is pretty weird.
