The Killers release 'Christmas In L.A.' video starring Owen Wilson (Video)

The Killers featuring Dawes released a video for their song “Christmas In L.A.” which stars actor Owen Wilson.

Beginning with a dialogue between the voices of Wilson and Harry Dean Stanton, with Wilson asking what he needs to do about breaking into acting, which Stanton answers with “nothing”. A soft piano starts with Brandon Flowers vocals narrating the story of Wilson as a struggling actor, looking at the California sun beating down on a December day, wondering if he can really survive another Christmas in L.A. The scene switches from live-action to an animated Wilson driving around, looking for a sign for him to stay, then switches back to a live-action Wilson trying to get advice from Stanton who leaves him wondering in a bar. Wilson thinks back to the girl he left behind at home, if she’s doing well, imagining that she’s probably married now with kids.

The song itself is very melancholy, leaving us wondering if there is hope for all the numerous actors and actresses in the Sunshine State, if they should tough it out or just turn in their chips. The music follows the dramatics in a subtle way, with piano and an acoustic guitar highlighted throughout, with Dawes and Flowers’ vocals embodying the hurt and struggle that comes along with the business.

This is the seventh year that The Killers have released a Christmas single, with all the proceeds going to the charity RED, donating to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS.
