Beyoncé releases video for ‘Drunk in Love’ featuring Jay Z

Quite possibly one of the biggest surprises of the year was Beyoncé dropping her self-titled album without any sort of warning, prompting a mass frenzy throughout the internet. Absolute genius. The album came accompanied with videos for what the Queen of modern R&B dubbed a “visual album,” and has now also released the video for the song with hubby Jay Z “Drunk in Love.”

For the first minute of the almost six-and-a-half minute video, Beyoncé strolls on the beach, wearing a see through wrap with a bikini underneath, holding a trophy, while strings play in the background of the black and white, movie-like visual. An Indian vocal starts off as we get a closer look at the trophy, showing a pageant trophy, and the drumbeat starts in, driving her voice from singing to rapping. Beyoncé starts writhing around in the sand with her new almost pixie-length hair, singing about how she can’t keep her hands off of you and being, as the title states, drunk in love.

Jay Z pipes in rapping down-and-dirty lyrics, giving the video it’s “explicit” rating, talking about there being no time to take drawers off and beating the box like Tyson, all the while standing arm around Queen B, with a drink in his hand. By the end of the video, they're constantly embraced.

The album Beyoncé sold over 80,000 units in just three hours, and 430,000 in the first day, and Billboard also reported is on track to debut at number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
