Alabama falls to Auburn, Cade Foster sent hate tweets

In one of the biggest upsets this season in college football, the Auburn Tigers overtook the No. 1 University of Alabama Crimson Tide, 34-28. With just one second left in the game, Alabama attempted a 56-yard field goal. The kicker came up short, and Auburn returned the kick with a 109-yard touchdown to win the game. Now, Alabama senior kicker Cade Foster faces death threats and other degrading posts on Twitter, and he wasn't even the kicker for the final moments of the game.

Since Foster had missed three field goals throughout the night, Alabama coach Nick Saban put freshman Adam Griffith in the game to attempt the final field goal, reports the Los Angeles Times.

22-year-old Foster missing three field goals - one 44-yard attempt in the first quarter, a 33-yard attempt early in the fourth quarter, and had another 44-yard attempt blocked later in the fourth quarter - was one of the biggest reasons Alabama won't receive a bid for a third straight national championship, and fans aren't happy about it. "Well, we missed a couple field goals. I don't ever like to say I do not have confidence in our players, but we have been a very good short yardage team all year," head coach Nick Saban said, reports http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/sec/2013/11/30/west-college-football-auburn-tigers-alabama-crimson-tide-iron-bowl/3791245/>USA Today. "It didn't work out that way."

And so Twitter exploded with hate speech, death threats and other insults pointed at Foster. The kicker's Twitter account has even gone dark and his name has been changed to try to prevent more hateful remarks.
