Last week, my friend and I were lucky enough to enjoy the Chef’s Tasting Menu from Top of the Market.
I have lived and dined in San Diego for over 25 years. The sunset at the Top of The Market makes the top 10 places to experience in San Diego.
The food was exceptional and the service was fantastic.
Chef Ivan Flowers prepared an array of fine assortments for us. We ate everything from Lobster Bisque to Beef cheeks. My two favorites were the Lobster Bisque Espresso with Spiced Sorbet Topped Malpeque Oyster and Hamachi with Limoncello Vinegar and Jalapeno Jam. My dinner companion especially loved the hamachi sashimi and the guava sorbet.
Anne, our sommelier, was my favorite. If you ever go in there ask Anne to make you a cocktail! We aren’t exactly sure what she made us, but it was light, refreshing, and a perfect before dinner drink. Her wine pairing ability was impressive. Each dish that Chef Flowers prepared was accompanied by the perfect wine to enhance both the flavors of the dish and the experience of the evening.
The Top of the Market is a great place to take in the beauty of San Diego bay and enjoy the delicious creations of Chef Ivan Flowers and his wonderful staff.
