Houston, we have Gaga.
That’s right, Lady Gaga is set to perform in space in 2015. The singer signed up to board the Virgin Galactic and fly to space.
To prepare to the performance, Gaga will be undergoing rigorous vocal training to deal with the change in atmosphere. But, as we all know, Gaga isn’t just about how she sounds. It is about the experience. She can’t just have a good voice. She has to have good songs.
Sure, her songs are great but space is another level. She can’t just sing about dancing and complicated metaphors. This is space! There might be aliens listening in. She needs songs that make the human race seem awesome and, in order to do that, she needs to change up her songs a bit.
Have no fear, I got it covered. Instead of writing new songs for her trek to the no gravity zone, it would be better to simply rewrite old songs. I’m not talking completely restructure the Gaga classics but moving around the words isn’t so bad.
Below are my ideas on how to revamp some Gaga songs for space. I’m not saying these will win a Grammy but- they will be amazing in space.
10. ”(I Can See) Venus”
“(I Can See) Venus” would be a rewrite of the original song, “Venus.” I’ve never been to space (sorry guys) so I don’t know if you can actually see Venus but- it is a pretty good song title. The song is already out-of-this-world but if you change it a little then it will be ready for outer space.
9. ”Literally in the Sky”
Since Gaga’s “Orange Colored Sky” is a cover of Nat King Cole’s song, I questioned whether or not to remix it for space. However, “Literally in the Sky” was too good of a title to miss out on. When performing in space, Gaga would be above everybody, literally chilling in the sky.
8. ”LoveSpace”
This song would be a remix of “LoveGame.” I can only assume that, if Gaga is in space, she’d love it. The lyrics practically write themselves: “Let’s have some fun/This beat is sick/I want to take a ride on your spaceship.”
7. “So Happy I Could Die- if I Accidentally Take Off My Space Helmet.”
I’m not sure how you can accidentally take off a space helmet but, nevertheless, in this song, it is possible. The remix of Gaga’s “So Happy I Could Die,” could be a clear metaphor for how happy she is in space and how she never wants to come back. I don’t know- she writes the songs; I write the title.
6. “Just Moonwalk”
Moonwalking is dancing, right? This remix of “Just Dance” could be simple. Just change every ‘dance’ in the song to ‘moonwalk.’ Of course, “Just Moonwalk” would be best used when singing on the actual moon. Because, then, to move around you’d just moonwalk.
5. ”Dance in the Dark (Side of the Moon)”
This remix of “Dance in the Dark” would not be very different. It could be a song of self-reflection. “Dance in the Dark” originally is about self-confidence and uplifting fans so “Dance in the Dark (Side of the Moon)” would have to have the same message. But in space.
4. ”Telephone Home Feat. E.T.”
Sadly Beyonce will not be joining Gaga in space. But, there is a remix of “Telephone Feat. Beyonce” that will work perfectly. The classic scene in the Steven Spielberg film E.T where E.T says, “E.T phone home” could be worked into the song. In the song Telephone originally, it discusses how she doesn’t want anybody to call her because she’s at the club. In this version, she doesn’t want anyone to call her because E.T is borrowing her phone. Polite Gaga.
3. ”You and I and Aliens”
“You and I” is a great song. It discusses a relationship and how great it is. Well, no matter how great a relationship is, it can always be improved with Aliens.
2. ”The Edge of the Atmosphere”
“The Edge of Glory” really could work for a song sung in space. It is edgy and cool. However, this is the first time anyone has sung in space so everything has to be over the top. In space, Gaga will be at and near the edge of the atmosphere, which makes this song go from a metaphor to a real life situation.
1. ”Born in Space”
With some of Gaga’s outfits, I wonder if she was actually born in space. This remix of “Born This Way,” makes the number one spot because it so perfectly wraps up Lady Gaga’s image. Mother Monster might actually be an alien. And, when she goes up into space, “Born in Space” could be a calling to aliens that were born in space.
Do you know any Lady Gaga songs that could be remixed for space?
