Trailer Weekly: ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

In just 23 days, Katniss Everdeen will head back into the Hunger Games arena. Until then, fans can watch the latest —and final— trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on repeat.

The trailer opens with a voiceover from President Snow (Donald Sutherland).

“Miss Everdeen, you fought very hard in the arena, but they were games,” Snow says in his typically condescending tone. “Would you like to be in a real war?”

This line is the only dialogue in the minute long trailer. What follows is a well framed shot that shows Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) aiming her iconic bow at the tyrannical president.

After winning the district death match with Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) in the series’ first installment, Katniss is forced back into the deadly arena as Panem celebrates the 75th Annual Hunger Games.

Unlike most Hunger Games trailers, this one offers an extensive look inside the arena. Entertainment Weekly notes that the Lionsgate publicity team is shy to reveal any arena action in its trailers, usually sticking to scenes from the first half of the film.

In this final trailer, we not only see Katniss in pre-Games training and ablaze with Peeta on a chariot, but we also see her and the other tributes scrambling through the treacherous ring.

According to Yahoo! Movies, Catching Fire was made with double the budget as the original Hunger Games film, and the shots inside the arena show that. The forest is more lush, a mysterious fog creeps though the night, mutant monkeys pop out from behind trees, and jabberjays swirl around a screaming Katniss.

How will Katniss fair in the arena this time? Find out Nov. 22 when The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theaters!
