Top 10 Celebrity Costumes

The air is crisp, the leaves are starting to turn, and pumpkins line the entrance to every grocery store. Fall is finally and here, and that means Halloween is quickly approaching. With less than a month left until the spooky day, it’s time to start thinking about your costume!

This year, don’t settle for a mundane costume idea. Retire the white sheet you used to be a ghost. Resist the urge to turn a respectable profession like a nurse or librarian into a “sluty” getup. With the abundance of major pop culture moments this year, why not get inspired by the celebrities you love so much? From twerk-filled VMA performances to the birth of a new king, 2013 has no shortage of celebrity moments that you can easily imitate in your Halloween costume this year. Whether you’re dressing just yourself, your family, or a group of friends, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a list of the top ten celebrity costumes.

10. Prince William, Princess Kate, and Prince George
This costume is really a family affair, but people with kids need to dress up for Halloween too. For Will, all you need is a man in a suit or button down shirt. For Kate, find a fascinator or a tiara and throw on a classy dress. If you’re really going for authenticity, you can match the blue polka dot dress she wore after leaving the hospital. Finally just wrap your George up in a white blanket, bonus points if you find a tiny baby crown or scepter, and off you go.

9. North West
I couldn’t mention the British royal family without including the American one. A Kanye, Kim, and North West entourage is unnecessary. All you need is baby North. To achieve this costume, you need a large piece of cardboard, markers, string, and scissors. Make a compass with the cardboard and markers, but instead of it pointing north, have it point northwest. You’re clever and topical.

8. Bill Nye the Science Guy
No, the beloved scientist from your childhood didn’t win Dancing with the Stars, but he did win a spot on our list. Dressing up as Bill is easy. Find a pair of khaki pants, a white button down, a blue lab coat, a bow tie, and, of course, an inexhaustible enthusiasm for science. Okay, you don’t need the last one, but it would help.

7. Katniss
While you’re waiting for Catching Fire to hit theaters in November, dress up as Katniss in October. You can wear Katniss’ hunting jumpsuit from Catching Fire or stick with her jacket from the first film. Whichever you pick, make sure your hair is braided, and you’re wearing a mocking jay pin

6. Girls
If you want to dress up with a group of friends, look no further than HBO’s Girls. You can wear a baby doll dress for Hannah, a perfectly tailored pencil skirt for Marnie, a bohemian maxi for Jessa, or a trendy dress with a giant bow for Shoshanna. If you need more inspiration, take a look at SNL’s spot on parody.

5. Amanda Bynes
It’s time to find that ratty blonde wig from last Halloween and use it for your Amanda Bynes costume this year. Besides a tangled mop of hair, wear some UGGs, sweatpants, and most importantly a Drake t-shirt.

4. Katy Perry from the “Roar” video
The pop star’s infamous blue wig is dead. If you want to go out as the pop princess, you need to ditch the spinning candy bra and unleash your inner roar. Perry’s look in the music video for her hit single “Roar” is easy to copy. All you need is a cheetah crop top, a grass skirt, and a flower head lei. It’s basically a hula girl with a little edge.

3. Daft Punk
“Get Lucky” was one of the biggest songs of the summer, why not carry it into fall? You’ll need  some sort of dark shiny helmet. A motorcycle helmet or a Power Rangers helmet from when you were younger will do. From the neck down, stick with an all black suit and tie.

2. Breaking Bad
To cope with the end of your favorite show, why not dress up as one of the characters? Get a yellow coverall, a costume gas mask, and rubber gloves. Shaving your head to match Walt’s is recommended but not required.

1. Miley Cyrus at the VMAs
It was the performance that sparked a thousand tweets, and you must recreate it as your Halloween costume. To achieve this costume goldmine, you need Miley’s infamous foam finger, a twerk bear shirt, two tiny hair buns, and some insane dance moves. After that, we can’t stop you.
