New pill made out of human poop cures infections

Doctors have created a new pill made from the fecal matter of healthy people in order to cure patients with gut infections.

The pills, which contain broken down poop from healthy donors, are taken orally. Even though the concept seems repugnant, it’s preferable to the treatments that were being used pre-poop pill, which included poop transplants and tubes placed right in the colon, according to Salon.

The new pills treat Clostridium difficile, an infection that causes nausea, cramps, and diarrhea. The illness kills 14,000 people every year. Introducing healthy fecal matter to the colon restores the balance of healthy bacteria and fixes the problem.

Through research, the pills were found to cure 27 patients who had previously tried antibiotics with no success, according to Yahoo News.

One patient, Margaret Corbin, described Clostridium difficile, “It was horrible. I thought I was dying. I couldn't eat…I never went anywhere. I stayed home all the time."

After two years of suffering, she tried the pills and has been “perfectly fine since.”

Would you take poop pills if it would cure your sickness?
