CBS is reportedly working on a reboot of the fan favorite supernatural series Charmed. This is the latest reboot in the television industry, with news of it coming a day after a Murder, She Wrote reboot was revealed.

Word of the Charmed reboot first came from Vulture. The original series was produced by Aaron Spelling and aired on the WB network. It ran from 1998 to 2006 and focused on three witches who used their powers for good.

Chris Keyser (Party of Five) and partner Syndey Sidner are writing the reboot, which will be a ‘re-imagining’ of the new series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will be produced at CBS Television Studios, which owns Spelling’s library of past projects. The Tannenbaum Company is co-producing.

CBS has only ordered a script to be produced, so this is in the very early stages.

While witchcraft and magic is currently a hot trend on television, so are reboots and remakes. Just yesterday, it was reported that NBC is working on a reboot of Murder, She Wrote with Octavia Spencer starring. NBC also tried a remake of Ironsides, which was just cancelled. CBS also has its successful reboot of Hawaii Five-0, which airs on Fridays.

Other supernatural hits on TV now include FX’s American Horror Story: Coven and Lifetime’s Witches of East End. WGN America is also producing a Salem Witch Trials show titled Salem.
