This week on America’s Next Top Model, the guys and girls did a scenic photo shoot and had some free time to enjoy Bali, but the fun ended when not one, but two, models were sent home at panel.
The seven remaining contestants were hanging out at their Bali house, when none other than Tyra herself showed up to spend some quality time with them. Everyone was in the lounge room except Marvin, who was on the porch crying over being in the bottom two last week. Tyra went out to give him some words of wisdom, and Marvin was shocked to see who it was! Then, Tyra and the models sat in a circle and talked about how they were feeling about the competition. Chris complained that no one else likes him and then threw poor Nina, the only one who reaches out to him, under the bus for being “too mothering!”
Chris sure wasn’t having a good week, because after Tyra left, he got into a fight with Jeremy. All the other models were sick of Chris’s poor attitude, and I have to say, I was too.
The next day, the contestants went to a rice paddy for a photo shoot. It was certainly the most beautiful place they’ve modeled yet, with rolling, lush green fields and misty mountains in the distance. The designer whose clothing they would be modeling was a deaf, 11-year-old prodigy, Rafi. All the models were inspired and quickly got to work.
The guys and girls posed in ethnic, green ensembles, balancing baskets on their heads. They all reveled in the opportunity to wear Rafi’s clothes and pose with such beautiful scenery… that is, except Chris. Before the shoot even started, he complained that his clothes made him feel constrained. Johnny (ANTM’s creative consultant) and the photographer were frustrated with Chris and his negative attitude already.
After they were done shooting, Tyra announced that there would not be a challenge this week, and instead they would be going to Ubud, the spiritual center of Bali, for some time to themselves.
The models were nervous about not having a challenge score, but were delighted to go to Ubud. They spent a relaxing day visiting a Shaman healer and playing with monkeys, before they went to their suite in Ubud where they would be staying the night.
Unfortunately, the suite only had one big bed and a few pull out couches, so the guys and girls immediately started discussing who would sleep where. After they agreed that the girls would have the bed and the guys would have the couches, Chris complained that his couch was too short for him and someone had to trade. The models were exasperated with Chris at this point, and let him have a pull out couch to himself to shut him up!
It’s no wonder that the next day when they went to the elephant park to ride elephants, Chris was the only one with a steed all to himself. Each elephant had a bench-like saddle that would fit two people, and one, of course, held romantically involved Renee and Marvin, who Cory started calling “Marnee.” Everyone wanted to see them kiss on top of the elephant (including Marvin himself), but Renee was embarrassed. Finally, Renee gave in, and an elephant-top make-out session commenced!
It was all fun and games until the models were called to panel and learned that two of them would be eliminated. On top of that, they only had their social media and photo shoot scores to save them, since there was no challenge this week.
Jourdan was called first with the highest score of the week. Marvin was next, because his photo this week was simply hot. Tyra complimented how he showed off his abs even while sitting down. Next were Cory and Renee, leaving the bottom three to be Nina, Chris, and Jeremy. I waited with baited breath, hoping Chris with the bad attitude would be sent home, but instead, he was the only one who stayed! Sweethearts Nina and Jeremy were eliminated instead. Nina’s photo wasn’t great this week, and Jeremy had too big of a build to be a high fashion model.
Despite my broken heart, I’m still going to tune in next Friday on the CW to see the five remaining contestants model in a room full of bats (I have a feeling Renee isn’t going to like this one)!
While you’re waiting for the next episode, check out how the predictions I made last month for Cycle 20 have stacked up so far!
