Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke wanted VMA performance to ‘make history’

Miley Cyrus has broken her silence on the backlash from her performance with Robin Thicke at the MTV VMAs.

Cyrus told MTV that the whole performance was planned out ahead of time with Thicke, and that they said to each other before the show, “You know we’re about to make history right now.”

Cyrus and Thicke’s performance certainly caught the world’s attention. The viewers’ reactions even surpassed Beyonce’s super bowl performance in tweets per minute, according to USA Today.

The tweets were not all positive, but Cyrus doesn’t mind. She brushed off her critics, saying, “I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music?”

Cyrus even compared her performance to Madonna and Britney Spears, asserting that every VMA performer wants to make history.

However, in an interview with The Mirror pre VMAs, Cyrus admitted that all she’s a workaholic and has “so many f---ing issues.”

Cyrus says she’s so obsessed with promoting herself that she can’t stand the boredom of vacation.

Her album Bangerz is scheduled for release on October 4.
