A New York teen died after collapsing at football practice in late July. His parents are now suing the school for forcing him to keep practicing after he felt ill.
The family has filed a $10 million lawsuit against the school’s athletic director, principal, and football coach, according to Fox News.
The teen’s family says his coach made him practice until he collapsed, and then the school did not act fast enough to get him medical attention. The coach, on the other hand, claims that the mother is at fault because she sent her son to practice with a fever.
This lawsuit comes just as another high school football player died from a brain injury at practice in California, according to the LA Times. After the 16-year-old hit his head, the boy passed out while walking to the sidelines. He was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
No matter who is to blame, the loss of young life is a tragedy for these boys and their families.
