Punk rock band Fall Out Boy performed at Riot Fest in Chicago’s Humboldt Park this weekend. Special guests during their set included Danny Wirtz and none other than Sir Stanley himself.
Wirtz is the son of Blackhawks chairman Rock Wirtz, and he brought the cup onstage while Fall Out Boy was rocking out on Friday. Wirtz had won local Emmys for the Blackhawks commercials he has produced, according to SB Nation.
Fall Out Boy has a big connection with the NHL – their hit “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark” was the theme song of the NHL playoffs this past year, according to NBC Chicago.
Along with the Stanley Cup appearance, Fall Out Boy’s performance included a spectacular 75 minute set filled with old singles from the band’s decade of history. The crowd was wild, especially considering Chicago is Fall Out Boy’s hometown. Pete Wentz estimated that 43,000 came to see them play. Other performers at Riot Fest included Blink 182, Brand New, and The Replacements.
