Breaking Bad is a true underdog story. With its bitter sweet series finale airing last night the show tied up many loose ends, and went out with a satisfying bang. The final episode aired to an astounding 10.3 million viewers (that's not including DVR), which broke every record for the shows history, and in recent shows history for that matter.
Breaking Bad was almost canceled after its first season didn't get the viewers AMC wanted, but fortunately the network stuck with it as it slowly made its way to fame. According to EW the season 5 finale beat out the season 4 finale by 442 percent (season four's 'Face Off' aired to a solid 1.9 million viewers). Breaking Bad will go down in the history books along side The Sopranos and The Wire.
According to /Film many believe that Netflix is what cause the sudden spike in viewership to Breaking Bad with such a drastic change between season 4 and season 5. With the accessibility of watching episodes so easily, it's no question why the series finale was so watched. Although Breaking Bad may be done, show creator Vince Gilligan still has a full plate.
