Atlanta parents invite homeless to their daughter’s cancelled wedding reception

Carol and Willie Fowler were stuck with paid-for catering, venue, and entertainment, when their daughter called off her wedding. So, the Fowlers decided to host the September 15 reception for the homeless of Atlanta instead.

Carol Fowler explained what happened their daughter announced her decision, "We went home that evening and my husband woke up the next morning and I was in the process of cancelling out the venue and he said, 'No, what we'll do is donate it to Hosea Feed the Hungry,'" according to ABC.

Hosea Feed the Hungry thought that they were getting a prank call when the Fowlers first proposed their idea – it just seemed to good to be true. But soon they realized that the Fowlers were very serious, and on September 15, they bussed 200 men, women, and children to the upscale Villa Christina.

The event was so successful, that the Fowlers are planning to get sponsors and do it again next year, according to Daily Mail.

Carol Fowler said, “"If we could just inspire one youth in that crowd to rise above the situation today and be a very responsible member of society tomorrow, that would be extremely rewarding."
