Apple issues apology to angry 'Breaking Bad' fans

Apple received a hoard of angry complaints when confusion over the name of Breaking Bad’s final season forced fans to pay twice for one season.

AMC split the final season of its Emmy award winning show, Breaking Bad, into two parts. The first eight episodes aired in the summer of 2012, and the final eight episodes are airing now.

According to the Los Angeles Times, fans purchased what they thought was the full 16-episode season entitled “Season 5” on iTunes for $22.99. When the second half of the season began airing in August, they had to buy “The Final Season” for another $22.99 to get the remaining eight episodes.

Noam Lazebnik filed a federal class action against Apple, alleging iTunes “deceived” him, ABC News reports. Lazebnik claims that upon purchase of his Breaking Bad season pass, Apple promised him all current and future episodes of season five.

In response to Lazebnik and other frustrated customers, Apple issued e-mail apologies and credited fans that purchased the season pass $22.99 so that they could buy the last eight episodes.

“We apologize for any confusion the naming of ‘Season 5’ and ‘The Final Season’ of ‘Breaking Bad’ might have caused you,” the message from iTunes to angry fans read. Apple also stated that iTunes does not choose the names of seasons and episodes.

Regardless of what the season’s called, fans are now free to watch Walt and Jesse in their final episodes.
