Alec Baldwin’s WNYC podcast Here’s The Thing will be ending after two seasons. The former 30 Rock actor recently took a position at MSNBC, hosting a weekly Friday night show.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news on Thursday, with sources noting that Baldwin had hoped to keep the show going but was unable to secure the funding. During each episode, Baldwin sat down with a variety of celebrities for in-depth interviews. His guests have ranged from Michael Douglas to Lena Dunham.
In a statement to EW on Friday, WNYC confirmed the news. “WNYC will wind down production of Here’s the Thing with Alec Baldwin this fall. The podcast series will end with a much anticipated in-depth conversation with Jerry Seinfeld,” the statement reads. “We wish Alec much success as he makes his transition to MSNBC.”
Baldwin officially secured the gig at MSNBC earlier this month. Up Late W/ Alec Baldwin will air on Fridays at 10 p.m. IT has not been confirmed when the show will start, though.
Baldwin and wife Hilaria recently welcomed their first child together, Carmen. “No one even sees that I’m there anymore. I thought about taking off all my clothes and sitting nude at the breakfast table,” he told David Letterman about his life at home this week, notes The Huffington Post. “They definitely prefer their mother to you. It’s very lonely.”
