The title and release date of Stephen Spielberg’s long anticipated fourth installment of the Jurassic Park franchise has been announced today. The film will be called Jurassic World and will be in theaters June 2015.
The movie will be shot in 3-D and will be directed by Colin Trevorrow with screenplay by Derek Connoll, according to USA Today.
The film has not yet been cast, but according to Variety.com, Universal Pictures are considering Bryce Dallas Howard, David Oyelowo, and Garrett Hedlund for starring roles.
The first Jurassic Park movie came out in 1993, based on the novel by Michael Crichton. Sequels to the first movie, entitled Jurassic Park: The Lost World and Jurassic Park III, were released in 1997 and 2001.
The science fiction movies are based on the concept of dinosaurs being brought back to life by cloning fossil DNA. The science experiment poses danger for humans in the first three films, which are all set on various islands where the dinosaurs are contained.
Can we speculate that the fourth installment’s just-announced title hints that the dinosaurs will come to life on a world-scale?
