‘Grumpy Cat’ gets endorsement deal with Friskies

The famous cat behind the ‘grumpy cat’ meme will be the new spokesperson (err… spokescat) for Friskies pet food.

The cat, whose really name is Tardar Sauce, finalized the deal on Tuesday with Friskies, which is a branch of Purina PetCare.

Tardar Sauce became famous due to ‘grumpy cat’ memes that show her face, which appears to be in a constant frown, with captions like “I don’t like days that end in Y,” according to Yahoo News.

Her Facebook page now has more than 1.2 million “likes.”

Tardar Sauce is a one and a half year old brown and white cat who lives with her owners in Phoenix. His human mom, Tabatha Bundesen, said about her pet’s sudden fame, “It’s unimaginable,” according to St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Shawn Brain, Friskies’ brand manager, explained the choice for their new campaign: “Enlisting the help of Grumpy Cat allows us to extend our reach to new cat owners. She, ironically, makes you smile seeing her face, even if you’re sick or having a bad day.”
