‘American Idol’ winner Ruben Studdard discusses being on ‘The Biggest Loser’

Ruben Studdard is hopping between reality shows – the winner of American Idol’s second season has joined the cast of The Biggest Loser as its heaviest contestant, weighting in at 462 pounds.

Studdard is now living on the Biggest Loser ranch for the show’s 15th season.

After his first few days there, Studdard said he’s learning a lot about how to live a healthier life.

Studdard said after he’s done on the ranch, he’ll begin recording his next album while eating right and exercising, too.

“That's what I've been taught, as you know. I have to get up every day and give myself the two hours that I need to keep myself together before I even get into any music stuff, and that's just going to have to be how I do it," he said, according to The Associated Press.

The 35-year-old singer does regret that he didn’t have the typical indulgent last meal before he went to the ranch. He had to fly straight there from a concert, according to E News.

It might have been better that way, though, because we all know trainer Jillian Michaels has no mercy on the first day.

Watch Studdard on The Biggest Loser for yourself – the new season premiers Oct. 8 on NBC.
