‘America’s Next Top Model’ recap: The Guy Who Cries

This week on America’s Next Top Model, the competitors did a shopping challenge in LA and then posed in a photo shoot where paint was thrown at them.

When the models arrived back to the house after Jeremy and Kanani were both sent home, Marvin couldn’t take it. Jeremy was one of Marvin’s best friends in the house, and Marvin cried to see him go. Even though Cory reminded Marvin that this is a competition, and he’s here to model and not make relationships, Marvin was still upset that each week one of his friends would be eliminated.

Phil, meanwhile was struggling to contain himself being stuck in the house. He explained that due to his ADHD, he’s used to being able to run around all the time. Phil decided to channel his energy by jumping around in the kitchen. He asked Jiana to stand in the kitchen where he would jump over her head. When Jiana refused, Marvin took her place, and Phil leaped over him in a single bound. Pretty impressive.

Soon, the models were headed to their weekly challenge. They met Kelly Cutrone, who was shading herself with a black parasol, in the middle of LA. Kelly explained that this challenge would be for MyEveryNeed.com.

“They’re my client so don’t f--- this challenge up,” Kelly warned.

First, Kelly quizzed the models on their fashion knowledge, and for every question they got right, they earned money. Then, they had to use that money to buy clothes from around town and make a killer look. First, though, they had to strip down to their underwear in order to start the challenge.

At the end of the quiz, which included questions like who was ANTM’s first winner, Renee earned the most money with $250 while Phil had only $25. After running around the local shops in their undies, their time was up, and the models were judged on the looks they created. Monica Rose, who is the Kardashians’ stylist, would be grading their outfits.

Monica thought Jiana’s dress was too bondage, Cory’s pants looked like women’s, and Nina’s outfit was good besides her shoes. Phil, who only had $25, was wearing the cheapest outfit he could find – women’s leggings and a t-shirt – which the judges hated. Don’s outfit was pretty plain, but he flirted with Monica and showed off the tattoo on his chest.

Don won the challenge, earning a gift card and an ice cream trip with two other models. He chose Marvin and Renee to get frozen treats with.

“The ice cream was yummy, and [Renee] was looking yummy,” Marvin said afterwards.

When they got back to the house, Marvin and Chris got into a huge fight about their challenge scores. Marvin thought Chris’s score was too high because his outfit wasn’t impressive. Soon, the fighting got personal. Marvin told Chris that he shouldn’t have acne because he’s a model, and Chris retorted that Marvin looks like a monkey. Tom-cat fight, anyone?

The next day, the models arrived at an art gallery for their photo shoot. On the walls were images of Tyra posing as other models like Cindy Crawford and Kate Moss. The models, though, would be posing as “living art;” they would have buckets of paint thrown at them as they posed.

Jourdan was up first. She complained that it’s really hard to keep your pose with paint being thrown at you, and it got in her nose and mouth. Yuck.

Cory, who had red paint thrown at him, said it was awesome, and he felt like a “fierce bloody mess.”

Marvin had trouble with his shoot, saying it’s really hard not to close your eyes when there’s paint in your face.

Soon, it was time for the judges’ panel. Kelly thought Marvin looked like he had a back ache in his pose, and Don’s photo was just not model-y enough. Jourdan got all 10s from the judges, who loved that she gave a lot of neck. Kelly told Phil that his photo looked like “diaper-palooza” and Jiana that she looked like “the ghost of the titanic.” Tyra told Renee that her photo had a “queenly stateliness.”

The scores were added up, and the top score plus the best photo went to Jourdan, who also earned best photo last week.

Right on her heels was Renee, followed by Nina, Chris, and Cory. Don and Marvin didn’t do so well, but the bottom two were Jiana and Phil. Tyra told Phil that he has potential, but he falls apart to pressure. Jiana started the competition strong, but then went downhill. After the scores were tallied, Jiana would be going home. Jiana and Phil both cried – everyone knew that had a thing for each other. However, we bet Phil’s girlfriend at home was happy to see tonight’s elimination!
