'The Exorcist’ TV series in talks with networks

The 40th anniversary of classic horror movie, The Exorcist have major networks discussing a potential TV series for William Peter Blatty’s classic film.

According to Deadline, Morgan Creek is shopping the drama series around, which is written by Jeremy Slater, a young feature writer who penned Fantastic Four reboot. Roy Lee, executive producer of big films such as The Departed and The Ring is set to executive produce.

Last year the idea of an Exorcist series was in talks for limited release under writer Sean Durkin, Morgan Creek, and Roy Lee. This time around, Slater is said to have a fresh take on the material – something brand new.

Both broadcast and cable networks are interested in the series, so it’s a matter of time to find out the fate of this potential TV series. Blatty’s novel was published in 1971 and in 1973 was made into a film. The plot centers on a young girl possessed by a demon whose mother seeks help from two priests with dark pasts. It became one of the highest grossing films of all time and the first horror movie to be nominated for and win Best Picture.

What do you make of the potential Exorcist series? Will it be successful this time around?
