Selena Gomez breaks silence about why she nixed ‘the Scene’

Selena Gomez opened up about why her new album Stars Dance does not include her old band, the Scene.

Stars Dance, which was released only a few weeks ago, is Gomez’s first album without the Scene. The album reached the number one spot on Billboard 200, which has never happened with her previous albums.

According to Disney Dreaming, Gomez said this regarding her lineup change, “I wanted to explore a different style of music for my solo album. I’m trying to keep this separate from the Scene’s output so it didn’t seem appropriate to have any of the guys on my album.”

Gomez’s first three albums with the Scene, Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010), and When the Sun Goes Down (2011) never made past the top three spot.

After her incredible success debuting as a solo artist, Gomez isn’t sure whether or not she’ll work with the Scene again. Gomez said, “I did intend to work with them again when I announced our hiatus. Right now, I don’t know what will happen. It would be nice to have two music careers, one as a solo performer and another with the Scene.”
