Pop singer Jesse McCartney marked his return to music on Monday with the release of "Back Together." On the disco-tinged number, he sings about rekindling an extinguished romance.
McCartney last single release was 2010's "Bounce." Since then, he has been focusing on acting projects and was unusually quiet on the music front. On Twitter, he announced his return with "Back Together."
"Back Together" is an upbeat pop track with some disco sensibilities. Bouncy beats and slick Maroon 5-like guitar back McCartney as he sings about reuniting with a love he never meant to lose. "If we get back together, it will be like when I met ya / Even better then, I bet ya," he soulfully croons. It's a refreshing sound from the electro-pop trend currently dominating radio and McCartney seems excited to be back in the groove.
"Back Together" was released to iTunes on August 12. The single previews a new EP from McCartney, which is due out later this year. He is also currently on tour with the Backstreet Boys.
