Lauren Prepon has not signed on as a season regular for the second season of the hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Prepon will return to complete her storyline as Alex, but will not return as a season regular when the hit drama series returns.
According to Buzzfeed, who first reported the news, production is leaving the door open for Prepon to return if she chooses. Orange is the New Black has already been given a 13 season order.
THR notes it is unclear whose decision it was to not have Prepon return. Production did not release a comment regarding the actress’ exit.
Created by Jenji Kohan, the series also stars Taylor Schilling Michael Harney, Michelle Hurst and Kate Mulgrew.
Schilling stars as Piper Chapman, a woman convicted of transporting money from over 10 years ago for her girlfriend Alex (Prepon).
Prepon is known for her long running role in That ‘70s Show as well as holding a guest starring role in How I Met Your Mother.
