Katie Couric responds to Kim Kardashian Instagram jab, 'I didn't mean to hurt her feelings'

Katie Couric is trying to clear the air after upsetting Keeping up with the Kardashians starlet Kim Kardashian.

As we previously reported, Kardashian slammed the journalist on Instagram, posting a photo of a gift Couric sent for her newborn baby daughter North West along with the caption, "#IHateFakeMediaFriends#MayIHumblySuggestYouNotSendGiftsThenTalkS--t."

Kardsahian is referring the subtle jab Couric unknowingly gave during an interview with InStyle when she responded to a question about the reality star family, “I don't understand—why are they so famous?" she answered puzzled E! News reports.

Couric has since released a statement to E! in the hopes of clarifying her intentions saying, “I've met Kim before and I think she's a really sweet person.”

Continuing she explains, "I was responding to a reporter's question, and explaining how I'm intrigued by the public's fascination with her family. I didn't mean to hurt her feelings. The gift is genuine, and I'm happy for Kim and Kanye."

Kardashian has not responded to Couric’s statement as of yet.
