It appears as if The Bourne Series is still alive and getting ready to make a resurgence.
According to Deadline Universal Pictures is starting to develop a fifth installment in the action franchise. Universal has hired Anthony Peckham to write the script that will continue the story of Aaron Cross. Jeremy Renner played Cross in The Bourne Legacy. Peckman is most known for writing Sherlock Holmes and Invictus.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Frank Marshall, one of the producers of the Bourne movies, has the hopes of making a movie revolving around Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne and Renner’s Cross, but this just remains wishful thinking.
Damon has said in the past that he would not do another Bourne without director Paul Greengrass, who directed The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. Damon also believes that there is nothing more to add to Jason Bourne’s story and therefore another movie would be unnecessary. Tony Gilroy, who wrote the original Bourne movies directed The Bourne Legacy.
Legacy was considered a moderate success grossing over $275 million worldwide, but it was not nearly as successful as the previous movies including Ultimatum which pulled in over $440 million worldwide.
