Last month, Curtis Jackson, better known as 50 Cent, was accused of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend, who is also the mother of his child. Today, Jackson is due in court to be arraigned and could be sentenced to jail for up to five years.
Jackson allegedly got into a physical confrontation with the woman on June 23 at her apartment in Toluca Lake, California. He was accused of vandalizing her apartment, causing up to $7,000 in damage. The woman, who has not been named, claimed in a police report that he kicked a door in, which injured her.
He was charged with a count of misdemeanor domestic violence and four counts of misdemeanor vandalism.
According to The Associated Press, a hearing on the case is set for today. In addition to up to five years in prison, he could face $46,000 in fines.
The woman said that she and Jackson have been in a three-year relationship.
While Jackson is best known for his music career, he has expanded his interests into businesses, film and television. He even agreed to produce a pilot for Starz.
