‘Rizzoli & Isles’ recap- “Somebody's Watching Me”

This episode of Rizzoli & Isles focuses on the death of a trash collector. When a beleaguered Jane spills hot coffee on a stranger at Boston Joe's, a viral video of Jane's bad day potentially jeopardizes her career and reputation. Meanwhile, the squad rushes to solve a puzzling murder case involving a conspiracy theorist.

The episode begins with a robbery. A conspiracy theorist’s home is burglarized by a shadowy figure. The supposed theft is murdered by an unidentifiable blunt object. That object becomes the center of the episode’s mystery. Frost and Frankie stay in the basement to find the possible murder object. It turns out to be part of a shot-down drone propeller. They also compete over an attractive new-female-rookie officer.

While that is going on, Rizzoli gets into a mishap in a café that went viral. She bumps into a woman, wastes her hot coffee, and the victim will later on in the episode sue Jane. Jane finds out that since she was off the clock, the city will not protect her. Now she is alone. She even considers selling her condo/apartment to pay legal fees. After watching the viral video, Jane and Maura find out that the video was planned. The lady’s shirt was water resistant and there was a finger print on the camera lens. Korsak runs the print and Rizzoli finds out that her landlord wanted her out so that he could sell her apartment.

In regards to the murder case, Leroy (the owner of the house and conspiracy theorist) was arrested and later set free. He had the hard-drive of a drone he shot out of the sky with an EMP gun. The manufacturer killed the trash-man and tried to kill Leroy but the gang stopped him in time.

This was an excellent episode. The writers are trying to build up a bromance with Frost and Frankie. It’s okay at the moment but it needs time. Also the comedy did not get in the way of the story and murder aspect of the episode.

Rizzoli & Isles airs on TNT.
