Ryan Murphy opened up about Cory Monteith’s death and how it will be addressed on the upcoming season of Glee.
Murphy, the co-creator and co-producer of Glee, announced that the first two episodes of season five will remain how they were originally written, with some slight modifications to adjust for Monteith’s absence. The third episode of the season will be a tribute to Monteith’s character.
“When we do the tribute episode to that character,” Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter, “We'll have to do it in a way where the cast members will not have to re-create feelings of grief that they’ve had this week – but do it in an upbeat way.”
The Glee producers announced on the show’s Facebook page yesterday that the first episode of season five will premiere September 26, a week later than originally planned. Production will being in early August.
Murphy disclosed, “Ultimately, we decided the best thing for everyone is to get back to work and be around people who knew [Monteith] and loved him so that everyone can grieve together.”
