The Governor's Ball Music Festival continues rain or shine, Kings of Leon rescheduled for tonight

It looks like Tropical Storm Andrea boosted the already inclement weather for the Governor’s Ball in New York City this weekend.

The three day, four stage, music festival held at Randall’s Island kicked off yesterday, but heavy rain, high winds and unsafe stage conditions, lead to the cancellation of the performance by headlining artists Kings of Leon (below) and Pretty Lights, according to Newsday.

Kings of Leon were supposed to announce their new album, “Mechanical Bull,” during their set, but they did not receive the press for it due to the cancellation. Other artists including Of Monsters & Men, Young the Giant, Crystal Castles, and Erykah Badu did get a chance to perform during the day for fans, though they may have been soaked and covered in mud. Just to navigate around the area between the stage, venders, and bathrooms, festival goers had to slush through 10 inches of mud and guck according to Billboard.

Even with continued conditions today, a note on The Governor’s Ball Music Festival official website reveals that “The festival is 100% happening, rain or shine.”

Despite the rain out yesterday, the Kings of Leon have been rescheduled to play tonight at 6:45 on the Governor’s Ball Stage, according to a representative of the festival. Unfortunately, they’ll be competing with hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar on the Honda Stage who is also scheduled to perform tonight. Better weather is expected for Sunday’s performances, so fans may get to see headliners like Guns ‘N’ Roses and Kanye West without their clothes soaked and caked in mud.
