Often referred to as “the Oscars of fashion,” the CFDA Fashion Awards were a hit according to CNN. Though the weather threatened to rain on the parade of famous designers, by the 6:30 red-carpet arrivals the sun came out so the stars could sparkle in their extravagant outfits.

Actress Kerry Washington presented the biggest award to the trailblazing designer duo Proenza Schouler run by Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, both professional and personal life partners, according to The Wall Street Journal.

A second notable moment was Hillary Clinton’s presentation of the Founder’s Award to Oscar de la Renta. She was received by the audience with a thunderous applause and a gracious speech from de la Renta. “I hope that for all of us, and perhaps she would not like me to say this, I hope that’s she’s going to be our next president,” Mr. de la Renta exclaimed.

Ms. Clinton, in response, made no comment on de la Renta’s remarks but commended for his work in fashion, his friendship, and generosity in the Dominican Republic.

Other big name presenters to grace the stage were Rose Byrne, Hailee Steinfeld, Dan Stevens, Douglas Booth. The awards, emceed by Bravo’s Andy Cohen, were scheduled to air on Style.com at 10 a.m. today.
