The amazingly talented Mel Brooks was born June 28, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York. Brooks of course is a famous actor, director and writer. But he had very humble begins in Brooklyn and later Williamsburg. He graduated High School and attended Brooklyn College, He was drafted before completing college and served in the United States Army during WWII.
After the war he began his career as an entertainer and didn't stop. His 1975 Robin Hood parody When Things Were Rotten was released on DVD. Also, his documentary film American Masters Mel Brooks: Make Noisebecame available. It originally aired on PBS, but now can be bought for home viewing. Brooks of course is most famous for Blazing Saddles, The Producers and High Anxiety.
Mel Brooks was also honored with the American FIlm Institute Life Achievement Award on June 6th. Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner were on Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. It is a must watch, hysterical and charming.
