Jim Carrey writes children’s book called ‘How Roland Rolls’

Funnyman Jim Carrey is publishing a book for children about a little ocean wave named Roland who learns about his place in the grander scheme of life.

How Roland Rolls – which will be published by Perseus Books – follows Roland who fears that his life will end once he reaches the shore. On his journey, Roland comes to realize that he is just one part of a grander thing – the ocean.

On the book’s website, Carrey explained is motivation for writing the book.

“I wrote How Roland Rolls specifically as a way for parents and grandparents to engage with the children in quality together-time,” he said.

“Not only will the message of the story help them feel connected, worthwhile, and a part of something vast and grand ... the very act of adults spending time simply to be with them, and only with them, will pay off in an experience of fulfillment that's truly beyond compare.”

Carrey is speaking from personal experience. The 51-year-old actor became a grandfather after his only daughter, Jane, gave birth to a baby boy in 2010.

Sabrina McCarthy, who is the president of Perseus Distribution Client Services, believes that Carrey is the perfect man to write a children’s book, Yahoo! reports.

McCarthy said, “He is such a vibrant, dynamic actor who brings amazingly vivid characters to life, and I think children will respond to the energy and enthusiasm he has brought to How Roland Rolls.”

After his recent war of words with FOX News over gun control, it seems that Carrey is now tapping into his softer side with his family friendly book.

How Roland Rolls is set to be released this September.
