It was a blast from the past for the cast of popular ‘90s ABC TV series Boy Meets World yesterday.
Many of the actors gathered at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas to reveal secrets from the show and the cast to fans according to The Huffington Post. Among the cast members were Ben Savage (Cory Matthews), Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter), Matthew Lawrence (Jack Hunter), Maitland Ward (Rachel McGuire), Betsy Randle (Amy Matthews), Lily Nicksay (young Morgan Matthews), Trina McGee (Angela Moore) and creator Michael Jacobs.
The 300 audience members in attendance watched and discussed the series finale of Boy Meets World with the cast, and got to hear all the juicy details about on-screen and off-screen fun, the love life between characters Cory and Tapanga, the lifelong friendship between Cory and Shawn, and even hear about the new Girl Meets World spinoff, featuring Ben Savage, Danielle Fishel and their new TV daughter 11-year-old Rowan Blanchard.
The cast became emotional when reflecting on the final episode of the seven season series (see below).
"We did that last scene [saying goodbye to Mr. Feeny] in one take because we were all so wrecked," Strong said. "It was our last scene -- the last scene in front of a live audience. It was so close to home. There was no filter between Shawn and Rider at that point."
"It's still hard to watch that scene," Savage added. "It was almost like saying goodbye to our childhood.
According to Yahoo TV!, fans missed the absent cast members Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence), Will Friedle (Eric Matthews), William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), Lindsay Ridgeway (older Morgan Matthews), Lee Norris (Stuart Minkus), Alan Matthews (William Russ), Anthony Tyler Quinn (Mr. Turner), but Fishel did send a video message to fans saying, "It's a show that means so very much to me," the actress said. "I give you permission to ask as many embarrassing questions as you want."
Both Fishel and Savage told the audience that working together again has been great, and creator Michael Jacobs dropped hints that there may be some guest appearances from old Boy Meets World cast members in Girl Meets World. The new series is set to premiere during Disney Channel’s 2013-2014 schedule.
