Alec Baldwin, one of the more engaging celebrity personalities on Twitter, deleted his account yesterday after going on an expletive-filled rant against a journalist.
The 30 Rock star, whose Twitter handle had previously been @ABFalecbaldwin, was incensed after reading a Daily Mail article alleging that his wife Hilaria had been tweeting during James Gandolfini’s funeral. Baldwin took to Twitter to deny the accusations and to threaten the author, later deleting the tweets in question and his account overall.
“The pregnant yoga instructor’s social media feed was full of upbeat posts while the Sopranos star’s friends, family and co-stars were gripped with grief at a New York Catholic church,” George Stark of the Daily Mail reported. “Messages included a request for ideas about wedding anniversary presents and promotional notes about her upcoming appearance on the Rachael Ray show.”
Baldwin, who had over a million followers on the social network, released the following cavalcade of expletives and threats, and included links to the article, according to Buzzfeed and other outlets:
“I want all of my followers and beyond to straighten out this f--king little bitch, George Stark. @MailOnline”
“My wife and I attend a funeral to pay our respects to an old friend, and some toxic Brit writes this f--ing trash”
“If put my foot up your f--king ass, George Stark, but I’m sure you’d dig it too much”
“I’m gonna find you, George Stark, you toxic little queen, and I’m gonna f--k…you…up.”
The Daily Mail swiftly changed the byline of the article to “Daily Mail Reporter" and Stark privatized his tweets.
Hilaria Baldwin also took to Twitter to clear her name, tweeting:
I hope that this reporter knows how much pain and drama he has caused from his poor journalism. Lying and bullying are shameful.

I don't know what hurts more: people randomly and maliciously writing lies about you, or the people who actually believe them
— Hilaria Baldwin (@hilariabaldwin) June 28, 2013
FYI I don't believe in bringing phones into a funeral and I never did and I never would

Before deleting his account for at least the third time, Baldwin tweeted, “How much of this sh-t are people supposed to take? With these f-cking blatant lies EVERY DAY,” and, “My wife DID NOT use her phone, in any capacity, at our friends funeral. Now, f--k this twitter + good luck to all of you who know the truth.” He also mentioned that he doesn’t have a publicist anymore, “I fired them.”
Baldwin also deleted his account once last year (tweeting the farewell “It’s Been Fun” two days after marrying Hilaria), and once the year before, following the now infamous dispute with American Airlines over the game Words With Friends, according to hollywoodreporter.com. He had tweeted that he was “reamed” by a flight attendant for playing the game on his cell just before takeoff at Los Angeles International Airport and he was removed from the flight.
