The show starts off with the Colbert discussing the terrorists’ accomplices. Two men help get rid of evidence at the apartment of the suspect by dumping it in a nearby dumpster. There were firework remains and a tub of Vaseline in a bag pack. The fireworks were incriminating. The Vaseline was just embarrassing. The two men were reported watching a movie doing the time of the bombing. Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev were charged with conspiring to obstruct justice by concealing and destroying evidence. Colbert speculates the two men were watching Osama Been-laying: Ji-Hard-On.
Then Colbert switches his focus to Guantanamo bay. Obama still wants to close it down but he has faced major opposition from the right. Also he is making excuses for his future mistakes. The idea that out of sight, out of mind is a horrible way of thinking is like syphilis. If you keep it long enough the part of the brain that should care, won’t. So Charles Swift sits down with Colbert to talk about the Gitmo hunger strikes. He believes that it is American to uphold the constitution. Holding innocent people without a trial is the un-American thing to do.
In the segment “Movies That Are Destroying America”, Colbert discusses Man of Steel. Henry Cavill is the new Superman and Colbert hates this. He is British. How can America’s symbol for justice be played by a Brit.?
In the final minutes of the show, Colbert sits down with Sir Ben Kingsley who talks about working with Robert Downey Jr. He also talks about his work over the years and playing Gandhi.
