Last episode ended with Rachel in Monroe's tent outside The Tower with a grenade in hand. Children of Men began with Rachel in the tent being tackled by Monroe's body guards, who successfully disarmed her of the grenade. Rachel was then subsequently captured, handcuffed and forced to grant Monroe access to The Tower. Aaron who was off in the woods with binoculars saw the explosion from the grenade, but later also saw that Rachel was captured and escorted Monroe into The Tower. While he was in the woods reading the journal, Miles and the team arrived via helicopter four miles away. Miles and the team saw a light off in the distance as they were approaching The Tower, it was Aaron. They all greeted Aaron and included him in the plan to enter The Tower.
As Rachel along with Monroe, his troops and Flynn descended to 12th level of The Tower there was a feeling of lurking danger. Rachel had a clear look of being distraught and aware of something lurking. Once they reached the 11th level Monroe became enraged and demanded Flynn explain why the elevator would not descend further to the 12th floor. Flynn had no answer but suggested they take the stairs. As they exited the elevator they were fired upon and killed, except Rachael and Monroe, who escaped to an adjacent safe room.
As these events were occurring Jason and Neville were blowing up the generators that were powering the camp which also was a distraction for Aaron, Nora, Miles and Charlie, so they were able to enter The Tower. Neville and Jason were captured during their attack. However, Neville was able to persuade a captain to release them during the course of the episode.
Once Miles and the guys entered they descended to the 11th level and found the bloody scene. After they found the corpses they decided to move through The Tower before they too were victims of whatever attacked Monroe's men. The group fled to a laboratory room and blocked the door. Once in the room they were shot at through the door and fled using an air duct. Aaron managed to grab a map of the facility from the room before they departed.
Monroe and Rachel were still in the safe room and began to agree on how much blood was on each others hands. Monroe also revealed to Rachel he has a son and apologized for the death of her son. Rachel then saw Charlie was in The Tower with Miles. Monroe proposed that Rachel open a locked container, which held an advanced weapon system and he would save Charlie. Rachel agreed and asked what he would do if he saw Miles. Monroe said he could not make an promises, but would promise to save Charlie.
Charlie and Aaron were ambushed by the attackers inside The Tower. Charlie was caught under a shelf and was about to be shot by the pursuers. Monroe killed the attacker and saved Charlie. Rachel took Aaron and Charlie away. Monroe went to find Miles to kill him.
Rachel, Aaron and Charlie were captured an escorted to a large room where Grace was and a man called Dan. This man Dan said that they were locked inside The Tower since the blackout, and would not let the power be turned on. He burned the journal and wanted Rachel to explain to Aaron why turning the power could be so bad. The episode then cut to Miles and Monroe in a hallway pointing the advanced guns at one another.
