Chris Colfer turns 23 today!
Born in Clovis, CA, Christopher Paul Colfer debuted his acting career for community theater, plays for West Side Story, and Sound of Music.
At the age of 18, he landed the main protagonist role, Russel Fish, in Russel Fish: The Sausage and Eggs Incident.
In 2009, Colfer landed a groundbreaking role in Glee as Kurt Hummel, a fashionable gay high student, a countertenor who got constantly bullied in school.
At first, the American actor auditioned for the role of the handicapped Artie Abrams, who used wheelchair, but the role went to Kevin McHale, because the series' creator, Ryan Murphy, was impressed that he created the role Kurt Hummel for Colfer only.
For his role as Hummel, Colfer had garnered SAG Awards, Golden Globe, Teen Choice Awards, and People's Choice Awards in the past three years.
Other than acting, in 2011, he signed a book deal to author two children-young adults novels. One of which was titled The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell, and was placed in New York Times Best Seller list two weeks after release.
