Founded in 1583 by Spanish admiral Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, St. Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied European-established settlement in continental USA. With a population of less than 15000, it is easy to overlook St. Augustine as a tourist destination.
However, don’t be fooled by the small size of the city. St. Augustine has a rich history and many attractions that makes it a premium destination both for history buffs and small families.
