‘Defiance’ show runner will exit after season one

The new SyFy TV series Defiance has continued to receive decent ratings but one of the major show-runners will not be on next season.

According to Deadline, Michael Taylor plans on leaving the show after the end of the first season. Taylor is well versed in Sci-Fi and he is part of a trio of writing producers that has created hit Sci-Fi shows in the past. His credits include hit shows like Battlestar Galactica and spinoff Caprica. These shows were both on the SyFy channel. He also worked on Star Trek: Voyager and Deep Space Nine.

The other producers include Kevin Murphy of Desperate Housewives fame and Rockne O’Bannon from Farscape. The show has drawn in 2.4 million total viewers. That breaks down into 1.11 million adults ages 25-54 and 1.06 million adults ages 18-49 in the April 22 9-10 PM telecast.

The show was the #1 cable drama in that time slot among both key groups according to Best Movies Ever News .

Defiance is produced by Universal Cable Productions.
