'Dog Whisperer' Cesar Millan reveals suicide attempt

Dog Whisperer star Cesar Millan revealed that in 2010 after his beloved pit bull, Daddy, passed away and his wife of 16 years filed for divorce he attempted suicide.

"I was at the lowest level I had ever been emotionally and psychologically," Millan wrote on his blog this year.

In his Nat Geo Wild documentary, Cesar Millan: The Real Story, set to air on November 25, Millan says that after he survived his overdose he pushed medicine and antidepressants aside and instead focused on exercise and work, reports E! News.

He said that he wasn't expecting his divorce from his ex-wife, Ilusion, whom he has two sons with, but he now has a new love in his life. Jahira Dar is the woman who Millan calls "the one" and he plans on proposing to her soon.

"I am a traditional guy, so I like to do the whole parent thing. I know they are going to say yes, but I like the whole Cinderella story," Millan said, notes People.

Millan hopes that sharing his story can help and inspire people.

"I think my life has everything, you know, it has comedy has drama has action. I don't know about the ending yet. I'm just glad I can tell the story. Hopefully people get inspired, they get motivated. It doesn't matter where you come from. Really what I would like for people to get out of this is just to not lose hope, no matter what happens. You should never lose hope," he explained.

Cesar Millan: The Real Story will air on November 25 on Nat Geo Wild and Millan's new show on Nat Geo Wild, called Leader of the Pack, will premiere in January.
