Music producer Charles Huggins convicted of fraud

Music producer Charles Huggins, who once worked with the likes of Kenny G, Tom Cruise and Whitney Houston, has just been convicted of fraud.

The music producer was convicted of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud for ripping off his investors in gold and diamonds in an elaborate Ponzi scheme, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

One of the reported victims in the scheme was former NFL player Ken Hamlin.
The judge in the case asked for Huggins to be held until his sentencing in January because he is a flight risk. Huggins is said to be very well connected globally, seeing that he knows high ranking officials in Africa and he has foreign bank accounts, reports The Associated Press.

Authorities said that Huggins took the $4 million given to him and spent it on a lavish lifestyle in Manhattan, spending the money on family and friends, and on an aspiring actress who referred to Huggins as dad.

Huggins could be sentenced to 40 years in prison for his crimes.
