IKEA’s Christmas gift for their employees

Christmas is just around the corner and this year, IKEA employees are getting something special.

WalletPop.com reports that at 9:30 a.m. PT Tuesday in all the company’s U.S. stores, each IKEA employee is getting a box containing the parts for a brand-new bicycle — 12,400 in all.

The bikes are designed specifically for IKEA workers and won’t be in normal retail outlet. Although there are no IKEA logos apparent on the bike, it has IKEA written all over it.

The flat box, the bicycle in pieces and one instruction booklet all resemble the famous furniture manufacturer’s trademark assembling kit.

IKEA President Mike Ward made a comment on the reasons why a bike was the choice gift for employees this holiday season.

He wanted to say, “Thanks IKEA co-workers for being strongly committed to working together,” and clarify that the bike is meant to “support a healthy lifestyle and everyday sustainable transport.”

IKEA’s mission is to furnish most American homes and make them the standard of modern and stylish living. With their Christmas presents for their employees this year, it seems like the Swedish company plans on making their employees' lives the epitome of health and style.

After the holiday binges, IKEA’s holiday gift is probably most ideal.
